Who Can Apply?
Applications are accepted from holders of:
- Flight Crew Licences (Pilots)
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licences
Application & Invoicing
Individual Applicants
Where an application is submitted directly by a freelance pilot, the invoice will be issued in the applicant’s name. Payment must be received before the validation can be issued.
Operator Applications
Where an application is submitted by an operator together with an Operator Request Letter, the invoice will be issued to the operator using the invoicing details provided.
Processing Time
Applications are normally processed within one (1) working day once:
- all required documentation has been received; and
- payment has been received (where applicable).
Certificate Validity
A Certificate of Licence Validation may be issued for a validity period of:
- One (1) year;
- Three (3) years; or
- Until the expiry of the underlying licence,
Conditions of Validity
A Certificate of Licence Validation remains valid only if:
- the underlying foreign licence remains valid;
- where applicable, the associated medical certificate remains valid;
- the licence holder exercises only the privileges authorised by the foreign licence;
- all limitations, restrictions and conditions imposed by the issuing Licensing Authority are complied with; and
- the underlying licence has not been suspended or revoked.
Important
If the underlying licence is suspended or revoked, the Gibraltar Certificate of Licence Validation automatically becomes invalid.
Digital Certificates
Certificate of Validations issued are maintained and issued in digital format. Validation certificates issued electronically by the Authority constitute the original document and are valid in their electronic form.
If you are operating an aircraft that does not have an approved Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), you must carry a certified copy of the Certificate of Validation on board the aircraft.
