Aircraft registered in Gibraltar must display nationality and registration marks at all times.
A Gibraltar registration mark consists of the prefix ZD-, followed by a letter from A to E and two additional letters (for example, ZD-AXX).
Registration marks must be permanently affixed to the aircraft, be clearly legible, and be displayed in a colour that contrasts with the background surface. Full requirements relating to the size, position, and display of registration marks are set out in CAP GEN 02 – Registration of Aircraft, Section 4.
Applicants may request their preferred registration mark at no additional cost. Gibraltar Aircraft Registry will check the availability of the requested mark and, if available, reserve the mark.
