For aircraft operated under CAR OPS 2A/H that do not have their continuing airworthiness managed by a continuing airworthiness management organisation, the owner/operator must appoint a Nominated Airworthiness Coordinator (NAC).
Where a NAC is appointed, the nomination is made using Form AIR 27, which must be submitted to the GCAA for acceptance. Any subsequent change of the nominated coordinator must also be notified to the GCAA in advance using Form AIR 27. Supporting evidence of the nominee’s qualifications and experience may be requested as part of the acceptance process.
The NAC must be directly employed by the aircraft owner or operator and possess appropriate aviation engineering knowledge and experience.
The NAC is responsible for coordinating the aircraft’s continuing airworthiness, ensuring compliance with the approved Maintenance Programme and applicable GCAA requirements, and acting as the primary point of contact with the GCAA.
The appointment of a NAC does not transfer the owner’s or operator’s ultimate responsibility for the continued airworthiness of the aircraft.
