standalone Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAR CAMO) approval is issued directly by the Gibraltar Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in accordance with CAR CAMO.

This approval is intended for organisations that are responsible for managing the continuing airworthiness of Gibraltar registered aircraft and do not hold a continuing airworthiness management approval recognised by the GCAA.

Where a contractual arrangement exists between a GCAA approved CAR CAMO and the aircraft owner or operator for the management of continuing airworthiness, the aircraft may be eligible for a Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) with a validity of up to 36 months, subject to compliance with all the applicable regulatory requirements.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted using Form AIR 46 – Application for CAR CAMO Approval, together with the applicable fee and the supporting documentation required by CAR CAMO.

Applicants must demonstrate compliance with all applicable CAR CAMO requirements, including the submission of the required manuals, procedures and supporting documentation.

Following a satisfactory review of the application, the GCAA will conduct an initial approval audit to verify compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.

Nominated Postholders

As part of the approval process, the Organisation must nominate the required postholders for formal acceptance by the GCAA. Each nominee must demonstrate that they possess the qualifications, competence and experience appropriate to the responsibilities of the position.

Approval

GCAA CAR CAMO Approval will be issued once the GCAA is satisfied that the Organisation has demonstrated compliance with all applicable requirements of CAR CAMO. The approval certificate will define the scope of continuing airworthiness management privileges granted to the organisation, including any privileges to issue Airworthiness Review Declarations (ARDs), where such privileges have been approved.
