CAR OPS 04 – All Weather Operations provides guidance to General Aviation operators on obtaining approval to conduct operations in reduced visibility conditions. It outlines the applicable aircraft equipment, operational procedures, training and approval requirements for the following operations:

  • Low Visibility Take-Off (LVTO)
  • Special Approval CAT I (SA CAT I)
  • CAT II
  • Special Approval CAT II (SA CAT II)
  • CAT III

General Aviation operators intending to conduct All Weather Operations must obtain the appropriate GCAA approval before commencing operations.

To support an application, operators must demonstrate that the aircraft is suitably equipped and certified for the intended operation and submit a completed Declaration of Compliance (Form OPS 07). The declaration confirms that the aircraft is equipped in accordance with the applicable requirements, flight crew are appropriately qualified and current, and suitable operating procedures and checklists have been established.

Applications must be submitted using Form OPS 07 – Application for All Weather Operations Approval, together with the supporting documentation specified in CAR OPS 04. Following satisfactory review, the GCAA will issue the applicable Specific Approval.
