FAA Temporary Airman Certificate (TAC)

The GCAA may, at its discretion, accept a valid FAA Temporary Airman Certificate (TAC) as evidence of FAA certification, subject to the conditions set out below.

Where a validation is issued on the basis of a TAC, the Certificate of Validation will be valid only for the period of validity of the TAC.

Where a TAC has been issued pending receipt of the permanent FAA Airman Certificate, the applicant must provide documentary evidence confirming that the permanent certificate has been issued. This may consist of either:

  • an FAA certificate verification identifying the Airman Certificate number; or
  • official correspondence issued by the FAA confirming the Airman Certificate number.

Where a TAC has been issued following the addition of a rating or another amendment to an existing FAA Airman Certificate, a copy of the applicant’s current permanent FAA Airman Certificate must accompany the application.

Once the replacement permanent FAA Airman Certificate has been received, a copy should be submitted to the GCAA. Subject to the continued validity of the underlying FAA Airman Certificate, the Certificate of Validation may then be reissued for the one-year or three-year validity period originally requested on Form PEL 01, where applicable.

Any applicable reissue fee will be invoiced to the same individual or organisation to whom the original invoice was issued.
